You understand the OSRS gold two these places take cuts from the revenue generated by sales through their platforms? They don't do it for charity, and jagex is more than large enough not to receive any status from them. Steam require epic take 12% and a 30% cut. There's not any way they don't attempt to create money from revenue runescape creates through their shop. Thus from jagex's position, they need to understand that being on these shops would make them more cash than it is going to cost to get them on and go through each of the logistics needed for that. It is probably better just to spend money and keep the profits in house.

If RuneScape does go on Steam, they will definitely get enough new players to make enough money that the 30% would be a non-factor. Can't talk for Epic though because even though it is only 12 percent, they might be unable to recover the price if they go on there. Personally though, I'd rather they wait until Runescape 4 (Around 2023 is my estimate) which has enough modern mechanics to allow it to compete with other MMORPGs. It might be pointless. Access that is large is provided by game stores but do not have.

It might be rapid short-term profit, but any new person wouldn't be anticipating this kind of game to maintain the shop leading to just F2P or only 1/2 month subscription. You then would need to take care of the negative reviews which are likely to come from them because RS is a really slow build up to end-game content when compared with the typical action-packed or speedy gratification of the other matches on the stage. Why would being on steam automatically give enough money? We are discussing the cut, we are talking about the money spent making RuneScape meet the prerequisites steam has.

I really don't know what they are but they are at least likely to include writing a launcher that may work through steam. Steam also distributes updates for games on the platform so you have to get a means to get the upgrade. Not impossible jobs although not 5 minute ones either. And you've got to ask, what would it perform? Sure enough steam might potentially raise visibility of RuneScape, but does it need it? Runescape's problem is not that people haven't heard of RuneScape - it's that people don't want to play it. Even individuals who have never played an MMORPG in their lifetime have heard of runescape.

The issue is getting them to perform, would being on things like steam assistance that? But it's not certain. Steam has games with their own launchers, although I might be speaking out of my ass here. The RuneScape client has its own launcher without a user interface. They'd just have to have the wrapper on steam/epic, which would just have to get upgraded when there are significant client updates in which you have to redownload it in the site (which doesn't occur frequently, right?). Not sure how they'd handle revenue sharing. All of RuneScape purchases are done through a weblink rather than in RuneScape game, but they might probably mplement a steam shop for runecoins keys.

Yep lots of steam cheap RS gold games have their own launchers but from what I have seen upgrades are still handled by them via steam instead of via the launcher. Meaning every week they would be pushing updates via steam in addition to through Apple, android and the present desktop client.
